Fire escape plans can sometimes be something that we put off. I know for me, during my childhood it wasn't discussed. The only time I can remember practicing fire safety was in school. Families don't usually think about having a solid fire safety plan in place just in case. Especially in the black community. We need to change that. It is important to have an escape plan should you ever find yourself in your home when a fire begins. It is most important to be sure that your children know exactly what to do if this ever happens. Creating an escape plan and practicing it can help keep you and your family stay alive. Follow these tips to help keep your family and home safe:

I don't know how much I can express the importance of this fire safety plan for families. Use this template as a starting point and customize for your needs. Check your local fire departments for more info and sometimes they give out free fire alarms and carbon monoxide detectors.
