Uplifting a grieving mom, Vanessa Bryant, and all our other mom friends in remembrance of ....2/2/2020 I think this past week was rough for most of the world after hearing about the passing of Kobe Bryant, his daughter Gianna and her teammates Alyssa Altobelli and Payton Chester; their parents, Keri and John Altobelli (head baseball coach at Orange Coast College) and Sarah Chester; basketball assistant coach Christina Mauser; and pilot Ara Zobayan. My heart goes out to Vanessa and the other parents who now have to raise their other children solo. As a wife and mom, I never think about my children or husband not being with me forever. I mean we all have insurance just in case but when you fall in love and have a family you just never think about anything other than being happily ever after, old and gray. Maybe it's me... but I'm pretty sure it's not. Death is something we know exists but we push it to the very far end of our mind. That's how it should be anyway. We have to live in the moment not be crippled by what can be. But, it's just a mom lost her baby girl and her husband. A dad lost his wife and daughter. They're hurting. Hurting immensely.
Unfortunately, I have had friends that have lost children and its the most pain I have ever seen anyone endure. After all, a parent shouldn't have to bury their child but it happens. We grieve. We grieve more. Sometimes we come out of that grievance with more of a purpose we have ever felt. I've seen my friends stand for causes they probably wouldn't have stood for before, achieve goals they probably wouldn't have set before, inspire people that they never knew they could touch. The pain will never go away but the way we come out of a situation can be remarkable. We as a village have to get together and pray for Vanessa and all moms that are grieving. There’s a long road ahead. I believe in supporting other women. That support can even be given through prayer, virtually or just in thoughts. Let's uplift her and the other moms who lost a loved one. Always. Stay blessed! Nakeiya

Hello, I'm Nakeiya!I decided to start Fabulous Mommys to help women and mothers throughout their journey of motherhood. Everyone's journey is not the same although we share similarities. One thing for certain is we ALL need a village and I strive to provide just that through education, tips and resources to help our village along. Moming isn't always easy or fabulous but it is rewarding. Some days I feel like Beyonce when I wake up and by the end of the day I look and feel like a hurricane hit me. Join me as I share my own stories, some recipes and fun! |
